Local Diner Beats Fast Food Option Any Day

My wife and I just returned from a two-day work-related trip driving around on the Eastern Shore. Every time I am visiting unfamiliar turf I make it a priority to find a good local eating hole as opposed to surrendering to the national fast food chain option. I am never disappointed. The uniqueness and character of these different diners might cost a few more denarii, but in the end you have to conclude with the evaluation of “Priceless.”

This trip we stopped in Selbyville at the Georgia House:

Classic American food with a Southern flair. All soups, sides, sauces etc. made in house. Fresh seafood, great steaks, comfort food. Interior decor changes with the seasons.

We also picked up some cinnamon buns at Jimmy’s Grille in Bridgeville, DE. Both of these spots earn high marks in the Apple restaurant rating system along with Holly’s Family Restaurant just over the bridge.

Of the many fried chicken places on the road east, Holly’s Family Restaurant on the north side of Route 50 in Kent Island (108 Jackson Creek Rd.; 410-827-8711) is the best. Second choice is Jimmy’s Grille on the west side of Bridgeville (Route 13-A, 302-337-7575)

So the next time you are over on the Eastern Shore and feeling those hunger pangs, here are three good selections to track down.
