These links are not intended to be comprehensive. There are a multitude of worthy sites that could be included. I am just drawing attention to these few that I have chosen to highlight. All of these sites feature at least some material that is available for free without any membership constraints. Sometimes they offer enhanced features for a fee. Some of the annotations are simply quotes from the website itself describing its own content. Other comments in italics are my own observations.
You can scan down the list or you can just select one of the topics below and go directly to that section.
ALPHA & OMEGA MINISTRIES – Dr. James White, Director; Dan Barker, co-Pres.
Alpha and Omega Ministries is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date, faithful defense of the historic Protestant position on the sufficiency of Scripture and salvation. We are a Reformed ministry, fully believing in what are commonly called the “doctrines of grace.” We firmly believe in the Trinity, the deity of Christ, the person of the Holy Spirit, and salvation by grace through faith alone. We hold to the “solas” of the Reformation: sola scriptura, sola gratia, sola fide, soli Deo gloria.
APOLOGETICS INDEX – Apologetics Research Resources on Cults, Sects, Movements, Doctrines, etc.
This website documents significant doctrinal differences between the essential teachings and practices of historical Christianity and those of other religions, including religious movements that claim to be compatible with Christianity.
Apologetics Index also addresses abusive churches and movements, as well as a variety of other cult research issues and controversies. In the process, we look at controversial movements and issues within the Christian community – discussing anything from aberrant teachings to full-blow heretical sects.
As a service to researchers, we also publish Religion News Blog – an up-to-date news archive about religious cults, sects, and related issues.
CARM – Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry: Online School of Apologetics
Equips Christians and defends the faith. We do this by analyzing religions such as Islam, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormonism, Roman Catholicism, Universalism, Wicca, etc., and comparing them to the Bible. We also analyze secular philosophies such as abortion, atheism, evolution, and relativism. In all our analyses we use logic and evidence to undergird the truth of the Bible which is the inspired word of God.
Check out their impressive index of topics.
MONERGISM – The view that the Holy Spirit is the only agent who effects regeneration of Christians. It is in contrast with synergism, the view that there is a cooperation between the divine and the human regeneration process.
Excellent list of ministries online and of reformed blog sites.
STEPS TO LIFE – Evangelism Explosion Ministry gospel presentation.
TWO WAYS TO LIVE – The choice we all face – emphasizes who is on the throne in our life; uses simple drawings to illustrate each point; probably the clearest simple gospel presentation
CROSSMAP – Check out the listing of top sites visited.

CROSSSGUIDE — comprehensive directory site

I have quoted extensively from the contributors to this site. They rely on a small number of key contributors (many with an exegetical background from Dallas Theological Seminary). They have published an online modern Bible translation (NET BIBLE) which they make available for free. They are actively pursuing the translation of some of their studies – which is an area I would like to pursue as well. They also feature an extensive database of sermon illustrations. They have been gracious to host a link to my Psalms commentary on their site.
Part of their extensive site includes some of the older commentators with text versions of their messages indexed by book of the Bible.
I have had the privilege of working with David over a number of years on a range of projects. He has done the best job of collecting sermon illustrations, organizing and indexing them and making them available over the web. Check out this page above for his annotated insights on about 40 different sites that offer sermon illustrations. His main page is: http://www.holwick.com/
I have the utmost respect for Dr. Piper’s extensive body of work. He comes from a Reformed Baptist perspective and is very helpful and insightful. He studied under Dr. Daniel Fuller at Fuller Theological Seminary and credits a lot of influence to the writings of Jonathan Edwards.
The mission of Desiring God: “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. We do this mainly through distributing God-centered resources from Pastor John Piper. These God-centered resources include items such as books, audio sermons, online articles, online sermons, and children’s Sunday School curriculum. We are located in Minneapolis, MN.”
ICLnet contains one of the largest and most complete archiving of “classical” Christian materials available on the Internet.
This site features the sermon archives from decades of faithful expository preaching on a book by book basis. The contributors include Ray Stedman, Doug Goins, Steve Zeisler, Scott Grant and Ron Ritchie. I have gathered much helpful material from their studies. Their church historically was one of the ground-breaking models for the practice of NT plurality of elder leadership.
Pick the Bible book you want to study and then view a list of related links to internet resources; very helpful and usually a starting point for me for online commentaries on a passage.
PURITAN LIBRARY – online resources and books
SERMON AUDIO.COM – Best site for a collection of audio sermons. I especially like selections from my beloved professor Dr. John Whitcomb, Pastor Gil Rugh and from across the pond, the delightful accent of David Silversides.
This site was originally developed by John Kapteyn, a Presbyterian pastor from Canada who had the vision to see the value in sharing such resources. He was gracious to host my initial Biblekey software program (and associated databases of sermons) and I helped him build up the content of his online site. The group that has since bought him out has invested the resources to develop this into the leading sermon website in the world. My only caution is that you have to sift through a wide range of not very helpful sermons to find the contributors that you value and find worth your time. Quantity does not always make for Quality or Efficiency.

Extensive radio and internet ministry that reaches worldwide.
BREAKPOINT – CHARLES COLSON – PRISON FELLOWSHIP MINISTRIES

CROSSWORLD (FORMERLY UNEVANGELIZED FIELDS MISSION)

In addition, a number of their missionaries share the same college discipling background from the Princeton Evangelical Fellowship.
Rick participated in one of their summer sports camps.
FOCUS ON THE FAMILY – DR. JAMES DOBSON
Focus on the Family began in 1977 in response to Dr. James Dobson’s increasing concern for the American family. The extensive radio ministry has expanded into a wide range of related areas.
GRACE TO YOU – DR. JOHN MACARTHUR
I believe that he has been blessed with the discernment to read the pulse of the changing landscape of contemporary evangelical theology and pinpoint the most crucial battles that need to be fought. Each book he writes seems to hit the spot in terms of clarifying some significant doctrine that is under attack.
INSIGHT FOR LIVING – DR. CHARLES SWINDOLL
I had the privilege of doing my senior thesis work at Princeton University on some of the writings of John Bunyan.
PCA HISTORICAL CENTER – Presbyterian Church of America
I grew up in the Bala Cynwyd Presbyterian Church of the Covenant (associated with Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia) – very similar to today’s PCA churches.
PRINCETON EVANGELICAL FELLOWSHIP – (FOUNDED BY DR. DONALD FULLERTON)
Unique campus fellowship group where Karen and I met and were discipled under the ministry of Wayne and Carol Wever.

(See About Us section) Pastor Morgan was our pastor there when we were in college.
A list of Christian devotional resources.
EXODUS MANDATE – RAY AND GAIL MOORE
Exodus Mandate advances the proposition that private, Christian and home-school education can successfully replace public education. The Moores were pioneers in the homeschooling movement and are dear personal friends in the ministry. You will not find a more passionate Christian servant than Ray.

PYROMANIACS – Blog by Phil Johnson (Grace Community Church), Dan Phillips, Frank Turk, Pecadillo
