You remember the old Art Linkletter show – he made a living out of extracting cute and unexpected sayings from young kids. A friend of mine Steve Kirchner passed along a couple of funny snippets of how young children can put an interesting spin on a situation.
The theme for these funny sayings is Nudity… but don’t be alarmed…
Story #1
I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, “Mom! That lady isn’t wearing a seat belt!”
Story #2
A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women’s locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, “What’s the matter haven’t you ever seen a little boy before?”
My Own Personal Story
These stories struck a chord with me because I had a very similar experience with my son Steve when he was about 3. We had pulled into a gas station and were waiting for the car ahead of us to finish filling up. My wife was in the mini-mart; the young teenagers ahead of us were horsing around outside of their car. The one boy playfully pulled at the back strap of his girl friend’s bikini top. It unexpectedly popped off and fell to the ground; the girl desperately grabbed it up and dove into the back seat of the car to put herself back together. Steve was watching with rapt attention and screamed out for all to hear, “Daddy, look – it’s an Indian!” Fortunately the girl had a good sense of humor and we all roared.
