Probably this simply memory device has been helpful in the prayer lives of many. We tend to become unbalanced in rushing right to the throne of grace for answers to our every need. We need to spend time focusing on the other important elements of prayer. Here is my suggestion for a simple study program that will help cement this acronym into your devotional life. Study each of the texts below for the principles you can glean that relate to these four different areas:
ADORATION — Prayer of Mary — Luke 1:46-55
CONFESSION — Prayer of King David — Psalm 51
THANKSGIVING — Prayer of cleansed leper — Luke 17:15-16
SUPPLICATION — Prayer of Nehemiah — Neh. 1
