In the midst of this pandemic, the NFL Draft was a nice diversion — our only taste of normal sports activity in the past month. I thought I would give Matt Miller some props for his mock draft analysis as it pertains to the selections made by the Baltimore Ravens. (He put out different versions — I used the numbers from the version I printed out and referenced while I was watching.) Of the experts that I researched to enhance my appreciation of the draft, he gets my vote for being the closest to reality. Look at the simple comparison below between his projection number and the actual draft number of the players selected by Baltimore:
Round Miller # Actual # Player
1 32 28 Patrick Queen
2 55 55 J.K. Dobbins (Miller had him pegged to Baltimore0
3 71 71 Justin Madubuike
3 95 92 Devin Duvernay
3 74 98 Malik Harrison
3 97 106 Tyree Phillips
4 129 143 Ben Bredeson (Miller had him pegged to Baltimore)
5 166 170 Broderick Washington
6 150 201 James Proche
7 139 219 Geno Stone
Obviously in the later rounds you would expect there to be a greater disparity in the numbers as the Ravens are trying to pick a player who has fallen down the draft board so that they get a steal. I think you would have to agree that these comparison numbers are pretty impressive for Matt Miller.
